"There is a rare, quiet power in these pages. For much of my life I carried thoughts and feeling in silence. Trina's courageous words made me feel seen.. It's a gentle, firm reminder that your struggles aren't a reflection of your worth. If you feel isolated in your journey, these words might be just what you need."
"Trina's book is both informative and straight from the heart. She gives the reader personal examples of how she has overcome problems and found answers to questions that are common to so many, especially to young people. She doesn't hold back at all. She will have you feeling sad, and then laughing in the next few paragraphs. Her main goal, though, is to encourage every reader to trust Jesus at His Word and not get bogged down and misdirected by the preferences of someone else. She does a great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it."
"In reading this book, I was impressed with the author's sincerity. She shared her experiences with an honesty that I found truly refreshing on a topic that needs to be discussed. A truly insightful book."
"What a beautiful picture of what knowing the love of Jesus can do in our lives. The perfect read for anyone, like myself and countless others who have faced the bondage of performance based acceptance from our families, our church families, and life itself. Trina's vulnerability in sharing her own story of hurts, mistakes, fears, and struggles, and the redemption, healing, peace and comfort she finds daily in Jesus, encourages me. She reminds me that this struggle is not just my own and gives hope that I too can experience healing from a personal relationship with Jesus. Her love of Jesus and his love for her, as well as her desire for us to experience that same love, is felt in her writing. The poems at the end of each chapter are powerful. I have shared quite a few with the people in my life that are seeking insight into their own heartaches and mess. If any of this resonates with you or someone you know, get the book. You will not regret it."
"Wonderfully chosen title. Intriguing as well. Once you start reading, it’s very hard to put down. So fascinating that from the very beginning so many things apply to my life. As I read more I see things that can apply and help me with my daily life. I know several people that would benefit from the book and will definitely pass along what it has done in my life.
''The author recounts her upbringing in a strict, legalistic family. Her story is a heartfelt exploration of the struggles and pressures she faced while trying to conform to the legalistic rules that stifled her independence. Through candid reflections and storytelling, Trina illustrates the conflict between family loyalty and the search for personal growth. Each chapter illustrates the emotional toll of growing up in an environment where love was conditional, yet it celebrates the eventual triumph with the discovery of her faith and relationship in Jesus. This book is a courageous testament to resilience and is relatable to anyone who has navigated a similar path. It is a must read for all who are seeking understanding of self worth and hope in their own journey."
"This book gives vulnerability and understanding of what it’s like to live with anxiety and stress. My ten year old son doesn’t like people or crowds; I couldn’t understand where he is coming from. He is loved by everyone who meets him funny and a respectful little dude but he hates being out. This book I believe has given me the tools to help him as well as understanding what he is dealing with. The more I read the more I realize I have some unresolved issues from my past. I have to work on my thought processes as well. Such a great book to keep in your library. The poems give you a glimpse of hope that there is a God that understands."
"I have gone through many challenges and trials in my life, and at times felt like I was alone in the world. In reading Trina's book, "It's Not Just You, It Was Me Too," I not only saw a reflection of myself in some of the pages, I saw friends and family members, as well. It's reassuring to know we are not alone and there is HOPE, no matter the circumstances. The surface isn't always what it appears to be; and I respect Trina's openness in sharing her personal experiences, so that others may be encouraged. A great read and even greater reminder of Christ's unconditional love."
