When I was growing up, my grandmother always had a garden. Not a fancy raised bed garden like the ones so many have today, but it was out in the open in her back yard. I remember her well into her late seventies, tilling the ground at the beginning of each growing season, creating long, built up rows in the soil and then planting row after row of vegetables.
Gardening today sure has changed- from the way we garden, to the reasons behind why we do it. Back in my Grandmother's day, people were of modest means and it was just the way of life for most to have a garden. Today, while many would like to have a garden, they are busy with their own day to day lives, and many struggle with finding the time to have one. If they do happen to find the time, there’s not always the knowledge of where and how to begin.
I talk about all of this and so much more in a garden e-book that I have written. My daughter laineandlayne.com has taken absolutely beautiful photos that you will find throughout. If you've always wanted to have a garden or are just now new to the idea, but you're not sure where to begin, then this e-book is for you. It has most all of the information that you will need to get started, begining with where you should place your garden, to what you should choose to plant, when you should plant it and why, and pretty much everything else that you need to know in between.
I hope you will enjoy looking at the pictures of my garden and of all of the things I've grown. I still get excited every single season when I put a seed into the soil and pray "Lord, bless this seed," and then watch what he does with it. I'm still amazed every single time.

In my garden e-book, I share with you how to grow a garden similar to mine. You'll learn how to grow beautiful fruits, flowers herbs and vegetables like the ones shown below. There are a few simple things that you need to learn for your garden to be a success, like "what direction does the sun rise and set over my yard?" and "what kind of soil works where I live?" When you answer the necessary questions and follow the steps that I provide, you won't be disappointed. I think the reason so many gardens fail, is because the gardner inadvertantly leaves out one of the steps. If you're like me and love to eat clean, organic vegetables- with a bit of hard work and determination, you can grow your own organic garden too.
Gardening is a big commitment and you will either love it or you will hate it. I believe the reward that comes from having your own garden far outweighs any reason you can come up with, that might make you hesitate on having one. If you decide to grow your own garden, just remember that every seed comes from God…all you have to do is plant each one asking God to bless it…. and He will. We all reap what we sow.
My idea of having a garden started out on a little piece of paper that turned into a rather big project. I live in Florida and knew that I needed a garden where the deer, foxes, opposums, squirrels and whatever else that is hungry and lurking outside would not be able to get into it and destroy it. As you can see, this is where my idea on that little piece of paper started to expand as the days went by. With research and elbow grease, my garden idea grew into this little garden house that is just what I wanted and need to grow enough food for my husband and me, and while it started out with a lot of work, it has become a labor of love for us both and the end result each growing season has been so worth it.
